In addition to Solutions 2 Wellbeing and
Recovery Technology L.L.C., Greg Gallagher
operates two homeless shelters that provide
free transportation services for clients who
need assistance due to disability. Greg has
introduced many programs to the community,
including Assertive Community Treatment
(ACT) which involves 24 hour assistance to
clients with a site located right in their
neighborhood. Another treatment program of
great magnitude that was introduced and
promoted by Gallagher to behavioral health practitioners in Michigan is
Dialectical Behavior Therapy, (DBT) which is used in the treatment for
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). The DBT method is the first
treatment illustrated by clinical research to be effective for people
suffering from Borderline Personality Disorders. Greg is a trained to certify
other practitioners in Dialectical Behavior Therapy; and because of his
drive and concern to raise the bar in client services, he has conducted
dozens of training sessions throughout the state of Michigan. Also, another
significant program introduced by Gallagher was Moral Reconation Therapy,
the first of its kind in Jackson County. This treatment addresses the unique
needs of offender populations, enhancing ego, social and moral growth in a
step by step fashion, and has been found to be very effective within the
school setting in reducing attendance and behavior problems as well as
issues over grades.
Prior to becoming an entrepreneur Greg made a huge impact in the
community behavioral health arena, working first as an Outpatient
Therapist for Community Mental Health, and also as the Union Steward for
the entire Outpatient Clinic Staff. He then served as a Program Manager
for outpatient services until he was promoted to be the Coordinator for all
CMH services in Jackson and Hillsdale counties. Later, he became the first
Associate Director for Jackson and Hillsdale CMH services. During his
tenure as Associate Director of clinical services, he was instrumental in
bringing the organization from a $4 million agency to a $40 million agency
that accomplished transferring over 500 people from state psychiatric
institutions to appropriate community environments. During that time he
also assisted with the implementation of 20 Community Living Facilities,
two Crisis Homes and one Behavior Home. As Associate Director, Greg
was also instrumental in the development of residential housing options,
creating ten independent living apartments, a Fair-weather Lodge, and
over 150 Adult Foster Care Homes in Jackson and Hillsdale County. These
places went on to serve well over 1000 people who were disabled.
With those career accomplishments behind him, Greg retired as an
employee of Lifeways and became a consultant, though he continued to
provide treatment to consumers at the Crisis Home. It was during this time
that Greg developed Recovery Technology. With his passion to raise the
bar in behavioral health, Greg designed and put into action the first
Telemedicine Program in Michigan for Community Mental Health recipients.
He later collaborated with Michigan State University and was awarded a
grant that allowed for further expansion of the Telemedicine Program to
include Jackson, Hillsdale and Lenawee counties.
